M Arch, B Envs (Architecture)
Justine is a registered architect and photography enthusiast, born and bred in the city of Melbourne, Australia. She graduated with her Masters of Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 2018, and has been working in the industry across multiple sectors since 2016.
She spent many childhood summers in Poland, where she became enamoured by the patina and medieval charm of historical European cities such as Kraków and Warsaw. Throughout her studies in architecture, she developed the notion that architecture is about more than just the technological, cultural or theoretical qualities of a building.
The story of architecture exists at the intersection of place, personality, materiality, form and sensory experience.
Her fascination with honest materiality, admiration of traditional craftsmanship skill, and enthusiasm for discovering new architectural stories has fuelled a passion for illustration, photography, and travel, an obsession with capturing the art through different mediums, and an ultimate desire to use architecture as a social and environmental tool to shape new experiences and inspire moments of awe.
“We all experience architecture before we have even heard the word… The roots of our understanding of architecture lie in our childhood, in our youth; they lie in our biography.”
- Peter Zumthor, Thinking Architecture, pg 65
Amongst other things, Justine enjoys Vietnamese coffees, tending to her houseplants and has a peculiar obsession with intergalactic space and beyond.
