Armadale House is a sensitive renovation of a period home, balancing contemporary living with the preservation of its original character. An early feasibility study explored multiple pathways for both the home and its owners, from renovating for sale to upgrading for long-term ageing in place. Through this process, a series of design options revealed that the home’s potential was not defined by its existing footprint, but by the owners’ vision and openness to possibility.

Considered spatial reconfiguration, along with early exploration of materiality and detailing, uncovered new ways of living within the existing fabric. The resulting proposals create spaces that feel fresh, reconnected, enduring and supportive of contemporary life.
